"Now and Forever"
Reunion 2003 is Finally Ready to Go!

Sharon, Janet and Janie prepare the "Goody Bags" for our 30th.

July 22, 2003

The Reunion Committee met with the Banquet Manager to "cut the check", pick out the food, set up the room, and put final plans into place.  If we have not heard from you by now, you will have to join us by webcast, which we are planning to offer during the dinner at 7 on the 2nd. Check below for final counts and the final menu.
Those who are attending the Friday and Saturday outdoor events have been contacted about alternate plans should it rain. Basketball players should report to the courts in any weather conditions.  Our Commissioner will advise us at that time.

June 26, 2003

Our meeting with the Holiday Inn today finalized our numbers.

Those of you who contacted us to say that "the check is in the mail" were included in our count.  Those of you who were unable to contact us may still be able to share the evening with us through the Internet.  The hotel will be able to provide a phone line for our webcast that evening.  We will now be trying on our end to get that in place. So eventhough we won't be able to see you, you can still be a part of the evening's festivities.
Your inclusion in our Memory Book is still possible though.  So please return those forms to use right away.  We already have the main book printed, but will be including an addendum for additional classmates.

June 14, 2003
The Reunion Committee is finalizing details and presenting them to the Holiday Inn on June 26th.  We continue to receive responses, and are happy to get them.  Classmates unable to attend have been sending us their Memory Book Questionaires, and will be published with the entire class, so anyone in that situation should contact Janet for another form if they need one to be included.  The Books will be offered through the website for a nominal fee, as will any Goody Bags that are left over.  Right now our numbers for the events are as follows:

If you know of anyone who would still like to attend, but who may be dragging their feet, tell them to contact the Committee at alumni@falcons73.com so that we can include them in the #'s eventhough we may still not have their commitment money.  This is looking like the best reunion we've had so far, and we'd like as many of our friends to be able to share is this once in a lifetiime experience.

May 14
As of this update all of our invitations have been sent out to those alumni that we have addresses for.  I'm quite sure that it is a first for the class of 73 to actually  have had some of them sent via "cyberspace" to those friends that we have e-mails for.  We are anticipating having all responses back from you by May 31st with plans to meet with the Holiday Inn to finalize plans for our dinner.  Please double check the Missing List to see of any updates and to whether you can help us.  I will be replacing the list of tentative attendees with one of those people who have sent in their replies and have confirmed their attendance.  Music, photography, decorations, memory book, "entertainment", displays, etc. are all in the works.  Should the #'s of attendees not be as high as anticipated, some things may need to be pared down, so please give us an indication of your intentions to attend or not attend.  You can use the e-mail link on this website.

December 8
The plans for our August Reunion continue to move on during these cold days of an approaching winter, with plans for the tour and fun run/walk being handled by Sharon and Janie.  Plans for a group photograph have just been finalized, and a photographer will be present offering pics for $20. each that evening.  Since our plans for this affair have come into the 21st Century, I've asked Glenn Toepert to be our "Tech" for the evening, helping to bring some new twists to our  festivities.  We are working on providing classmates with CD's for a minimal fee,  filled with photos of the weekend, and will have more information to you as plans are formulated.

September 3rd
The Committee made it official as we visited the Holiday Inn to finalize plans for our Sunday Morning Brunch!  You could alomost smell the bacon cookin'!  Our "special" room will be open from 9-12AM with breakfast being served from 9:30-11:30.  We were able to get the "Observatory" again for this affair!  Alumni will be able to look out over SB and the surrounding areas on hopefully, a bright sunny Sunday morning.  What a great way to say Good-by....

August 15th
The Official SB 73 Reunion Committee bank account was opened today!  We're ready to take your cash, and pay for all the great stuff we have planned!!  Sharon Manzo has been named Secretary,  Janie Brett will be the Treasurer, which is good because Janet had a hard time figuring out the tip on the dinner check, and Janet Wagner will be "The Person that does everything else that needs to be done."  The Official Reunion Logo was unveiled, and discussions about everything from the music to the photographer to Memory Books, price, Pins, and t-shirts were lively and enthusiastic.

Road Trip #1
Wednesday, June 19th
Saddle Brook Holiday Inn

What a pleasant surprise this was!!!
Janet, Sharon, and Janie hit the roads and set off great distances to visit  one of our local catering establishments.
The Holiday Inn has gone through extensive remodelling and was very impressive right from the start. When Kathleen, our hostess for the afternoon, brought us up to the Observatory Room, all of us stood there with our mouths hanging open...
what a great view of SB and the surrounding areas!  This could be the ideal spot for our celebration.  The price is right, and they are willing to give us the 9th of August, and are working on throwing out one of those ReunionConsultants on the 2nd. So more information will be forthcoming.
We are planning a mailing to go out sometime in July that will give you definite dates and times, as far as we've planned, as well as a questionaire for you to fill out.  Please return those to us as soon as possible

Meeting 1
Tuesday, April 30th
Panera Bread, Route 17, Ramsey

On an evening when the sky looked like the beginning of the Wizard of Oz, the initial meeting of the Reunion Committee came to order.  Present and accounted for were: Chairman Janet Toepert- Wagner,  Debbie Policastro-Shafer, dave and Sharon Manzo, and Jane Gorga-Brett.  Missing-in-action, but not forgotten were Norm Holzberg, and Bill Devine, who promise to make it to our June mtg.  After ordering coffee, Janet outlined some of the ideas she had in regard to our Reunion Weekend, which our class has asked to be held during the beginning weeks of August.  Two places that we will look into are the SB Marriott, and the new SB Radisson.

Here's a quick list of what we touched on:

JA weekend bash starting with an "early bird " Thursday night get-together for those of us who just can't wait to get started.  Probably to be held in the suite of the Reunion Chairwoman right at the hotel.

JFriday night "Coffee Tour" of SBHS with a cafeteria get-together of coffee and cake.

JSaturday morning "Howie Schumann" Fun Run/Walk at SB County Park with Bagels and juica for all participants, and possibly a commmemorative tee shirt.

JSaturday Noon Hour Game O' Hoops at Franklin School to re-enact the historical 5th St.-Long School rivalry.  Graduates of Cambridge, St. Phillips, and Washington School would cordially be invited to play as well, since at 48, you can never have enough help.

JPre-Reunion Dinner get-together of 73  Alumni Chorus.....to possibly "rehearse" before their evening performance.  We'd like to include some entertainment during the evening... singing, video presentation, webcast out to those who can't make it to the festivities, as well as the usual and unusual awards that are given out at a reunion.  Group photo of the entire class as well as candid shots and small group pics of ie; football team, rah-rahs, band, etc.

JSaturday night, an evening of friendship and "catching-up" at  a  5 hour cocktail hour of hot and cold hors d'ourves and viennese table.  Music to be served up by a disc jockey playing  Seventies music that you can personally request.

JSunday morning brunch at the SB Marriott for one last good bye.

   "Somehow I'd expected
   My classmates to stay
   As young as they were
   On that long-ago day
   We'd hugged farewell hugs
But like me, through the years,
They added gray to their hair,
   Or pounds to their rears.
But as we shared a few memories
   And retold some class jokes,
   We were 18 in spirit,
Though we looked like our folks.
   We turned up the music
   And dimmed down the light,
   Rolled back 30 years,
And were young for the night."
